The Artist at Tico Laser Creations.

Mauricio is a California artist and entrepreneur who combines brilliant design with ineffably cool art. In 2020, Mauricio expanded his talent for marrying custom design with eye-catching art to laser technology. Intrigued with the ability of laser engraving to create well-crafted objects that are also beautiful and trendy, Mauricio initially used the technology to create gifts for family and friends. When he began advertising his designs locally and internationally on Etsy, interest in his custom laser creations was immediate and overwhelming. Tico Laser Creations was born.

Born in Costa Rica, Mauricio immigrated to the US in 2004 to attend the California Culinary Academy (CCA) in San Francisco. He graduated with a degree in hotel and restaurant management, and began a career managing trendy high-end restaurants in the San Francisco Bay area, including the XYZ at the W Hotel, the french restaurant Left Bank, and Bocanova.

Following the birth of his son, Mauricio found the evening and weekend hours of restaurant management incompatible with family demands, so he left the hospitality industry to pursue a long-time personal passion – motorcycles! Mauricio began to rebuild and customize motorcycles for fun and profit.

He focused his talents to turning large discarded bikes into high performance machines with new electronics and bodies that were air-brushed works of art. Initially self-taught, he honed his airbrush techniques with internationally renowned Argentinian artist, Ariel Castellaro, to create one-of-a-kind designs on motorcycles’ gas tanks and fenders. With his combination of redesign savvy, mechanical skill, and artistic brilliance, Mauricio won local competitions and earned recognition for his motorcycles.

Mauricio lives in CA, where he rides his customized Harley through the California hills, applies his extraordinary skill as a chef for family and friends, and indulges his great passion for soccer by coaching Mustang soccer teams and watching international soccer with his family.
